SHOE-YORK:

A night of York’s finest alt/indie/shoegaze!

Featuring AIMING, Moongate & Joseph B Paul!

AIMING
AIMING is the work of York-based trio David, Jordan and Laurie. Formed in late 2023, they draw on a love of shoegaze, post-punk and ambient music to create songs filled with driving bass lines, fuzzy electronic soundscapes and ethereal guitars.

Their debut single, Calculations (February 2024), was featured on Tom Robinson’s 6 Music Introducing mixtape, and 2024 saw them play 10+ shows in York, Middlesbrough, Manchester and London, including two BBC Introducing live sessions.

AIMING released their debut EP, The Legend, on 7th February 2025, through Blackjack Illuminist Records.

MOONGATE
Moongate is a York-based shoegaze/dreampop project known for blending atmospheric soundscapes with emotionally rich songwriting.

Moongate gained early momentum supporting the now Mercury Prize-winning English Teacher during Independent Venue Week, and after a short break, she has returned with a new band and new music, ready to captivate listeners once again with her dreamy, immersive sound.

JOSEPH B PAUL
Joseph B Paul is a London native who’s made York his home since 2019. Described as ‘An existential crisis set to shoegazey electronica’, Joseph has been recording and releasing music since 2020, with songs that attempt to combine the brutal realism of Camus with the eclectic sound of Girl Talk. His music has been featured on Artlist and BBC Introducing, and has racked up tens of thousands of plays on Spotify.
